Abstract:

This report covers the fourth quarterly period of the combined Production Engineering Measure and Reliability Study on CR-XM-53U crystal units. Special mounting arrangements for 1-megahertz crystals were investigated. Claw mounts could meet the million-Q requirement, but yields were too low to support production and fabrication was difficult. A four-point, spring pressure mounting was derived which gives promise of meeting the CR-XM-53U requirements with reasonable yields Q levels are good and units are not as sensitive to shock disturbances as the previous designs.
