DESIGN OF A SCAN CONVERTER FOR DISPLAY OF SONAR INFORMATION.

This paper presents the design of a storage display system for retaining slowly arriving sonar information until a complete picture is received. A scan converter employing the Raytheon CK 1383 electrical-in, electrical-out storage tube converts the stored sonar pictures into standard television format. A bright stored picture is then viewed on a conventional television monitor. Plan Position Indicator P. P. I. and B scans are available as well as special purpose scans useful with the CTFM sonar. Erase may be accomplished gradually at a controlled rate, or effected quickly prior to writing a new or succeeding picture. Author
