A 'SIGMA PI PI' MASS ENHANCEMENT AND A NEARBY TRIANGLE SINGULARITY,

Abstract:

The enhancement observed in the Sigma 2pi system at about 1660 MeV is described using a triangle diagram which has an intermediate state composed of a positive-pion and a Y sub o 1520. In view of this, it is suggested that this enhancement does not represent the three particle decay mode of the Y sub 1 1660, but that rather it is the result of a final state interaction mechanism.
