THE RESPONSE OF A SIMULATED DETACHED RETINA TO VARIOUS DYNAMIC FORCES.
Abstract:
The experiments suggest that the application of rotational vibrations andor the application of approximately a 2G force field could greatly enhance the natural settling of a detached retina in the clinical case and give a firm reattachment around the tear, eliminating the need for surgical intervention. The model studies to date substantiate the feasibility of a migratory reattachment under rotational vibration andor centrifugal forces and justify proceeding with the next phase of the research project--that of completing the model centrifugal tests and then studying the response of detached retinas in animals by rotational vibrations andor centrifugal forces including the effectiveness of various osmolar agents on migratory settling.
