DEEP-WATER METAL-CUTTING TORCH.
Abstract:
The feasibility of the liquid oxidant-fuel concept for use in an underwater cutting torch application was demonstrated by achieving an underwater cut of steel plates. Tests were also conducted to evaluate corrosivity effects in the immediate vicinity of the experimental cutting operations. The toxicity of potential fuels and oxidants was investigated. Other existing and potential cutting techniques were reviewed and are discussed.
