TRANSPIRATION COOLING WITH LIQUID METALS. PART I. EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL DETERMINATION OF OPTIMUM COOLING,

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0620983 | Need Help?

Abstract:

An analytical and experimental program was conducted to evaluate a forced flow transpiration cooling system. A two-dimensional heat transfer program was applied to define the individual contributing cooling mechanisms associated with transpiration i.e., boundary layer three tests were performed on porous tungsten bodies with various infiltrants in a plasma-arc facility. Analytical results were correlated with experimental data. Material and design values were identified for the fabrication of an efficient transpiration cooled structure. Author
