LATERALIZATION OF SOUNDS AT THE UNSTIMULATED EAR OPPOSITE TO A NOISE-ADAPTED EAR.
Abstract:
Some experiments aimed at clearing up disparate results in work on auditory adaptation led to the seeking out and discovery of conditions of monaural stimulation under which a sound image could be located toward the contralateral, unstimulated ear. The phenomenon helps to clarify divergent experimental results. A tentative model, with testable psychophysiological consequences, is outlined. Author
