Abstract:
The pioneer V space probe was launched from Cape Canaveral on March 11, 1960, inwards towards the orbit of Venus. The scientific instrumentation included a spin coil magnetometer, two radiation experiments, and a micrometeorite detector. Data were obtained for distances up to 40 million kilometers from the earth. The most significant results of these experiments are summarized in this paper. Author
