ANALYSIS OF AN AIR-TO-AIR, AIR-TO-SURFACE MISSILE,
Abstract:
The transfer function of an air-launched missile is obtained for a wide range of operating conditions. A linear control system is designed. The use of the missile against both airborne and surface targets is shown to be feasible from the standpoint of control-system requirements. Launch envelopes for the missile with a proportional navigation guidance system are obtained in the horizontal and vertical planes. The effects of various constraints on the missile are determined. Analysis of representative missile-target characteristics at different altitudes demonstrates that the missile can be effective against both airborne and surface targets. Author
