DEVELOPMENT OF NICKEL BASE ALLOY SHEET FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE APPLICATION. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF INCO 713C SHEET
Abstract:
The elevated temperature tensile and stressrupture properties of Inco 713c sheet fabricated by the basic process described in ASD-TDR-62-869 AD-406 873 under closely controlled test conditions were measured. Tensile tests at 1900 and 1700 F and stress-rupture tests at 1800 and 1700 F were conducted on both Inco 713c specimens and Rene 41 control specimens by an independent test agency, Metcut Research Associates of Cincinnati, Ohio. The results of the tests confirmed that Inco 713c sheet had much higher tensile and stress-rupture strengths than Rene 41 at the selected test temperatures but the ductility of the Inco 713c sheet was found to be below normally accepted values for sheet alloys. A limited program was then conducted to demonstrate the feasibility of improving the ductility by minor modifications in the rolling and heat treating procedures.
