Abstract:

The purpose of this program is to experimentally determine plane strain fracture toughness values for a variety of high strength-to-weight materials over a range of test temperatures. The ultimate objective is to develop the data in a form which would be useful for presentation in handbook form. During the current report period the primary emphasis was placed on procuring a number of heats of material, machining test specimens, and heat treating to the desired strength levels.
