Abstract:

The first two stages of the 16 GHz solid state power source were fabricated and tested, and consisted of a transistor oscillator-doubler stage at 1.0 GHz followed by a varactor doubler stage at 2.0 GHz. The transistor driver delivered an output power of 2.3 W, with an efficiency of greater than 30. The efficiency of the varactor doubler exceeded 55, thus yielding an output power of 1.25 W at 2.0 GHz.
