A MULTI-CHANNEL OPTICAL PYROMETER FOR THE 1500 K TO 3000 K RANGE.
Abstract:
This report reviews various approaches to optical pyrometry for remotely measuring heated surfaces in the range 1500 K to 3000 K. The conclusion is that the monochromatic technique has least intrinsic error. It also discusses the polarization of radiant energy from a heated surface. On the basis of these studies a feasibility breadboard instrument was constructed which can sequentially measure up to five heated surfaces through fiber-optic light pipes. The design and performance of the instrument under laboratory conditions are discussed. Author
