SPACE SIMULATION CHAMBERS AND TECHNIQUES,
Abstract:
Twelve papers are presented on the problems of space simulation. Following an introduction 1, the topics duscussed include 2 the over-all problem of the design and operation of space chambers, 3 the parameters to be considered in simulating a space environment, 4 the simulation of thermal radiation and 5 the heat-sink effect of space, 6 the various types of vacuum pumps, 7 the technique of cryopumping, 8 the analysis of the vibrations encountered in space flight, 9 a general program for the detection of leaks, 10 the state-of-the-art of the instrumentation of space chambers, 11 the status of a space-environment simulation chamber in which manned spacecraft will be tested, and 12 the system design of space simulation chambers.
