OCCLUSION OF DIAMOND DUST IN CHROMIUM PLATING ON STEEL,
Abstract:
An investigation was conducted to develop a cermet coating for steel substrates that sould have high wear reluctance. Occlusions of diamond particles in chromium plate can be achieved by adding this material to a standard bath in which electrodeposts are formed with only slightly altered plating procedures. The evidence for composite coatings is indirect substrates plated in this fashion have exhibited unusual wear resistance. An application of the methods described is indicated in the field of erosion- and corrosion-resistant coatings, as well as in the field of low-friction and wear-resistant surfaces. Author
