SCORING MANUAL FOR THE ZIMMER SENTENCE COMPLETION TEST OF HOSTILITY, DEPENDENCY, AGGRESSION ANXIETY AND PROJECTION OF HOSTILITY,
Abstract:
This test was developed as a research tool for the purpose of studying intrapersonal processes through the medium of hostility and dependency. It was constructed because it appeared that a similar instrument was not available. The measurement of four processes is attempted by means of this test 1 the subjects direction of hostility, 2 the extent of his aggression anxiety, 3 his tendency to project hostility, and 4 the strength of his dependent needs. To score the test, each response is evaluated against typical responses which have been categorized. The number of responses fllling into each category is then tallied, with each response weighted as one point, except neutral responses which are counted as zero. For hostility items, the product-moment correlations between two independent scorers were .98 for 45 subjects on all 42 items, .95 and .92 on 14 of the items for 28 and 29 subjects, respectively. Odd-even reliability of all hostility items on a group of 101 subjects was found to be .78. For the 36 dependency items, the product-moment correlation between two independent scorers for 25 subjects was .90. Author
