Abstract:
This final report deals with the preparation of diboron compounds and spectroscopic problems involved in various boron-containing molecules. Reaction of tetradimethylaminodiboron with ethylene glycol using dry HC1 and CO2 were described. With HC1 no separation of products was obtained and with CO2 partial success. Preparation of B2 OH4 with 80 yield was described fusing tetradimethylaminodiboron and infra-red spectrum of both compounds determined. Calculations were carried out for the fundamental frequencies of a general dimethylamino group and the results used to assign the spectra of dimethylamine and tetrakis dimethylamino diboron. Author
