MATERIAL - SEALANT, SYNTHETIC ELASTOMER - EVALUATION OF MODIFIED EC-1610 TYPE,
Abstract:
Specimens of modified EC-160 and PR-9422 B12 were tested. Results indicated 1 Both materials have approximately the same application time. The modified EC-1610 developed hardness considerably faster than PR-9422 B12. 2 Modified EC-1610 and PR-9422 B12 had about the same resistance to thermal rupture and thermal shock after soaking in jet reference fuel JRF. Both sponged to some extent. 3 Comparison of thermal extrusion of the two sealants showed the modified EC-1610 to have less extrusion from small tubes than PR-9422 B12. 4 Both sealants showed comparable losses of adhesion to substrates after immersion in a 2-layer media, JRFsalt water, at 140 F. In resistance to JRF alone at 140 F, PR-9422 B12 appeared to have the advantage over modified EC-1610. 5 Both sealants showed good repairability. It was concluded that modified EC-1610 was the better structural void repair sealant. Author
