Abstract:

This final report is presented in four sections 1 the selection of the totally blind subjects, 2 the procedure employed in training the subjects to use the Obstacle Detector OD and in evaluating the effectiveness of the instrument, 3 the analyses of the performance of the subjects with and without the OD and their subjective reactions to the instrument, and 4 the general conclusions concerning the usefulness of the instrument.
