THRUST REVERSER PERFORMANCE AND THE INGESTION PROBLEM,
Abstract:
The thrust reverser is now a familiar and reliable part of the jet transport power plant. One of the problems associated with its use, ingestion of either gas or stones, may severely limit reverser effectiveness and prove extremely expensive to the airline operator in engine repairs if it is not delt with during power plant design. It is important that a reliable method of simulating the problem at model scale be available. Such a method has been established and confirmed by full-scale results on the several transports powered by Rolls Royce engines. Author
