INVESTIGATION OF FLEXIBLE WEATHER RESISTANT FILMS FOR PROTECTION OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT DURING EXTENDED OUTDOOR STORAGE,
Abstract:
An investigation was conducted to determine the feasibility of using flexible thermoplastic materials as protective covers on military equipment during extended outdoor storage. Weathering and physical properties of films fabricated from various polyethylenes, polyvinyl chlorides, nylons and polyvinyl fluorides were evaluated. The results of the investigation indicate that black polyethylenes and polyvinyl fluorides are satisfactory for use as protective covers. Test methods and requirements were developed for inclusion in a specification. Author
