Abstract:

This report describes the investigation and interpretation of the Knight shifts of nonmagnetic atoms alloyed with elements of the first transition series. All Knight shifts are reported as a function of temperature and magnetic field. The linewidths of all observed resonances are als6 reported as a function of temperature and magnetic field. Two samples of NiAl were studied. Sample I was composed of 52 at . aluminum and 48 at . nickel. Sample II contained equal atomic percentages of nickel and aluminum. The effects of cold working and annealing on the resonance intensity and linewidth in these alloys 1re discussed. Resonance line intensity measurements in Sample I also yield information about the range of quadrupolar fields arising from point defects in NiAl. Author
