ESTABLISHING TANK DESIGN CRITERIA FOR LIQUID HYDROGEN ROCKETS
Abstract:
Various tests were conducted at various temperatures for the mechanical and thermal properties of cryogenic fuel tank structural materials steel and titanium alloys, of insulation liner materials fiberglass reinforced polyurethane foams, and of encapsulation materials aluminum foil polyester composites. The results are to be used in selecting the optimum materials for a liquid hydrogen fuel tank design which can be used in both missile and aerospace applications.
