Abstract:

The objective of this study is to assess the usefulness of selected reports of The Army Equipment Records System TAERS in meeting the objectives for which the system was developed. Five different TAERS reports have been published. They are the Hi-5 Summary, the Hi-5 Trend Summary, the Materiel Readiness Report, the Modification Work Order MWO reports, and the Direct Manhours Summary. These reports are subject to continuous revision and improvement. In addition, at least six other reports are contemplated within the TAERS system. They are Hi-25 ComponentPart Report, Average Annual Manhour and Parts Costs Summary, Average Annual Cost vs AgeUse Summary, Maintainability Index, Reliability Analysis, and the Equipment Improvement Report Summary. TAERS represents a formal coordination of the reporting of maintenance-management and materiel-readiness information. These data are relevant to estimating the materiel situaion, planning for the procurement and distribution of materiel, and controlling materiel inventories and costs. Author
