Abstract:

Tests of twelve thin-walled charge containers loaded with seven varied compositions of plastic bonded explosives indicate that five of the seven compositions can sustain, without an explosive or burning reaction, impact of a 336 lb studded weight dropped from a height of at least five feet. The tests conducted offer only limited statistical assurance of exlosive insensitivity due to the small number of samples evaluated.
