NITROGEN OXIDES AND PHOTOCHEMICAL SMOG FORMATION. A LITERATURE SURVEY
Abstract:
Up to the present time no experiments simulating smog formation have been performed in which all of the nitrogen oxides present initially could be accounted for in terms of final products which were identified and measured. This may indicate that unknown compounds are formed, or perhaps may merely indicate a lack of precision in measurements. On the basis of presently available evidence it appears that nitric acid, alkyl nitrates, and acyl and peracyl nitrates are the most probable reaction products. Author
