Abstract:

This report shows that the Articulation Index is a valid predictor of the Intelligibility of Speech under a wide variety of conditions of noise masking and speech distortion. It is recommended that the Articulation Index be used to evaluate the performance of many speech communication systems when speech intelligibility testing of the system is not practical. Author
