Abstract:

The synthesis and properties of silanols compounds containing OH groups directly connected to the Si atom are described. In view of the affinity of the Si atom to O there are organosilicon compounds containing 1, 2, and 3 OH groups connected to the Si atom. These compounds are subdivided into alkylaryl-silanols expressed by the general formula R3SiOH disilanols R2SIOH2 and trisilanols RSiOH3. Of the above mentioned compounds, trialkyl aryl silanols have been studied the most. The latter are highly reactive compounds of great practical and theoretical significance. Author
