DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL ANALYSIS METHODS AND TECHNIQUES
Abstract:
Descriptions are given of the 3 major components of a differential thermal analyzer DTA, a sample holder, a controlled source of heat, and a device for the measurement of the heats of reaction. The development of equipment designed for thermal reaction research is discussed. Heating rates and other factors are considered. The DTA method is used qualitatively for identification of certain minerals and for studies of reactions. Some quantitative studies have been made on the basis of weight percentages of certain minerals.
