HOLLOW PERMEABLE TURBINE BUCKETS SUITABLE FOR TRANSPIRATION COOLING
Abstract:
Stainless-steel turbine buckets are under development. The bucket molding procedure is described. Type-316 stainless-steel powder incorporating a phenolic binder is used. Sintering fixtures were developed to prevent warpage and breakage of the new bucket shape. Preliminary experiments on the NACA strut- supported bucket were begun, in which rolled wire cloth was used as the skeleton structure. Careful fabrication and annealing permitted the incorporation of the structure into the molded bucket.
