Abstract:
Peri-implant soft tissue is often sculpted to develop ideal emergence profile by use of a provisional restoration. However, this tissue has been shown to collapse upon removal of the provisional restoration. If the tissue remains collapse during impression-making, the effect could be a final restoration designed with a cementation margin more subgingival than intended, compromising removal of residual cement, a risk factor for peri-implantitis and implant failure.
