Title:
The Antibacterial Efficacy of Activated Charcoal-Based Toothbrushes on S. mutans
Report Date:
2020-06-05
Abstract:
Activated charcoal has been used throughout history as an effective media for the absorption of undesired products. The specific type of charcoal in most charcoal toothbrushes is Binchotan, a white charcoal and several manufacturers claim it possesses antibacterial properties. If found to be effective against Streptococcus mutans, these products could be considered as an adjunct to caries prevention treatment for high caries risk patients.
