Title:
Permethrin: An Assessment of Exposure During a Military Uniform Mass Spray Application
Report Date:
2020-06-17
Abstract:
For more than 30 years, the US military has relied on permethrin for protection against biting arthropods and exposure to arthropod-borne diseases. Most personnel have worn uniforms treated with and sprayed products containing permethrin. Permethrin can be applied to uniforms by trained personnel in a mass spray event using permethrin. During a uniform spray event, exposure is possible through the dermal, inhalation, and ingestion routes. All the potential routes of exposure are heavily influenced by personal behaviors of the users of permethrin.
