The threat posed by the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is among the central strategic national security challenges that the United States is facing. The breadth and scope of this challenge requires interagency cooperation, as well as coordination with a broad array of international partners. To effectively confront the threat of WMD proliferation, the United States relies on the will and capacity of its allies and international partners for assistance.
