Title:
The Fluidity of Cast Steel
Report Date:
1938-09-07
Abstract:
The fluidity of steel, as made for steel castings, is studied by the use of the spiral type fluidity mold. Careful attention in given to the control of experiment conditions and variables. Close duplication is maintained on the temperature control of the bath. It was determined that the fluidity of steel is not effected by the carbon content and that deoxidation practice appeared to show marked changes in the fluidity of steel when other normal variables are constant. Studies on the addition of copper show that copper increases the fluidity of cast steel.
