Title:
Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) Technology Transfer
Report Date:
2019-12-30
Abstract:
To increase awareness and implementation of the ESTCP demonstrated UTES technology, Andrews, Hammock and Powell, Inc., Consulting Engineers will develop an educational series of tools including seminars, webinars, websites, videos, guidelines, and software. The profession specific, on-demand webinars will be hosted for a minimum of two years on the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Whole Building Design Guide website and will allow participants to be tested at the end of each Learning Module and receive Professional Development Hour (PDHS) certificates and credits like AIAs Learning Units for their specific profession. The Department of Defense (DoD) has expressed interest in reducing its $4B energy utility bill, decreasing its water consumption and increasing its inside-the-fence energy security and resiliency. All three of these objectives were achieved under EW-201135 through the use of a rare (in the US) state-of-the-art form of energy storage known as UTES.
