Title:
Reduced Requirements For Modular Electronic Equipment For Aircraft
Report Date:
1973-07-03
Abstract:
The Air Force has invested billions of dollars in electronic equipment used in aircraft (avionics). For example, the avionics and spare parts for its F-111D aircraft alone have cost more than $900 million. GAO reviewed how the Air Force determined requirements for avionics spares used in the A-7D and F/FB-111 aircraft to determine whether the Air Force had realized all the advantages of the modular design concept for avionics.
