Title:
Safety and Feasibility of Emergency Preservation and resuscitation for CardiacArrest from Trauma (EPR CAT)
Report Date:
2020-09-01
Abstract:
During this second year of the project, we have continued enrollment at the Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland Medical Center, which had already begun enrollment under our previous grant, W81XWH-07-1-0682. We have added 1 subject who underwent Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation (EPR). This brings our totals to 6 EPR and 5 control subjects. None of these subjects have survived. We continue to conduct routine EPR drills to keep team members up to speed on the protocol. Because of a hold on clinical research and concerns about the local blood supply due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the study has been on hold since March, 2020.We have continued the process of bringing Stroger Hospital of Cook County on as a second EPR site. The subcontract with them has been completed. They have proceeded with the community consultation/public disclosure process in concert with their Institutional Review Board. We are prepared to conduct training exercises for them once they receive regulatory approvals and our clinical hold is lifted.
