Title:
Multi-scale Directed Self-Assembly of Nanoenergetics Utilizing Graphene and Characterization by in situ Heating and Imaging
Report Date:
2019-07-14
Abstract:
The mechanisms and combustion performance of nanothermites assembled via directed self-assembly (DSA) are investigated in numerous different material compositions and morphologies. In the DSA process presented here, discrete nanoscale fuel (Al) and oxidizer nanoparticles (NPs) are assembled on 2D scaffold materials including functionalized graphene and MoO3 sheets. The fuel and oxidizer assembled layers will assemble further into multi-layered large structures to produce macroscale nanothermite composites. A diverse set of experiments using variations of the DSA process is detailed in this report.
