Title:
Quantification of Hydrodynamic Forcing and Burial, Exposure, and Mobility of Munitions on the Beach Face
Report Date:
2017-03-31
Abstract:
The objective is to quantify the hydrodynamic processes (velocity, shear stress, turbulence, surge) and associated munitions mobility (burial, exposure, transport) on the beach face. The pilot study was performed in the Littoral Warfare Environment (LWE) at Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) to quantify munitions mobility orientation, migration and burial depths while simultaneously recording the hydrodynamic forcing conditions and bed response. The pilot study is the first of its kind to simultaneously measure both processes on the foreshore under large scale conditions.
