Abstract:

Weather services of the USAF and the German Air Forces in World War II are compared. It was found that the AF Weather Service was more efficient in its administrative and technical control than the GAF Weather Service in spite of the larger operational area the former covered. It is believed this was due in part to the completely military nature of the AAF Weather Service. The short- and long-range forecasting techniques employed by the GAF Weather Service comparable with those of the AAF Weather Service.
