Abstract:

A solution is found in the strong shock approximation for the propagation of a spherically symmetric blast wave in an infinite medium with a radial density variation of the form p sub O bRexpn 2a-3, where a and b are constants. It is found for this case that the velocity of the shock front is dRdt ARexpn -a, where A is a constant related to b and the energy of the blast.
