Abstract:

Hyperlinks provide rapid access to databases that contain all forms of media, including motion video. The use of hypermedia to present job task procedural training is widely perceived to be an efficient means of presentation. A prototype video-based workstation was developed and used to explore videodisc job aid development and use issues. Job aids for torpedo and Ellison door maintenance tasks were developed and presented on the workstation. Development issues are discussed and the results of the use of the two task aids are presented. Alternatives to the hypermedia software used in this experiment are explored.
