The field of compressor blading design and analysis was researched, and results are presented. The system specifications for an improved online stress-monitoring system are stated on the basis of these results. These specifications are believed to cover present and future test needs. A hardware and software system design is presented which satisfies these specifications. A three-level hardware design is proposed to provide for flexibility, modularity, and expansion. Basic ground rules and concepts for software design are also established. Project resource limitations did not allow recording of alternate analysis methods that were considered in choosing the analysis requirements included in this report e.g., Fourier analysis on all channels, display of data for operator interpretation.
