Abstract:
An integral equation whose solution is the electromagnetic field induced in a heterogeneous, penetrable, nonmagnetic body--e.g., a biological body--by an external source is derived and approximated by a linear equation for computer implementation. A computer program for carrying out the discrete approximation of the integral equation is described. The use of symmetry groups in saving computer storage is explained. The scattering of a plane wave by a homogeneous ball is analyzed by this program and the results are compared with those produced by a computer program that implements the Mie solution. Author
