Abstract:
NORMAN is a pattern recognition machine which recognizes two-dimensional figures under conditions of translation, rotation, and magnification. It uses intelligent scanning to build up a profile of any arbitrary figure and stochastic i.e. probabilistic processing to normalize the profile with respect to the three permutations.
