Title:
Microtox Acute Toxicity Testing of Novel Environmentally Sustainable Binders for Energetic Formulations
Corporate Author:
Army Public Health Center Aberdeen Proving Ground United States
Report Date:
2020-05-05
Abstract:
The energetic and toxicological properties of cyclooct-1-yn-3-glycolic acid COGA, 1-phenyl-3-p-10-3-phenyl-1- isobenzofuranylphenoxydecyloxphenylisobenzofuran IBF-Orne, p-3-pheyl-1-isobenzofuranylphenol IBF-OH, and PCL-cyclooctynePCL have been assessed as potential replacements for isocyanate-based binder replacements in energetic formulations. The aquatic toxicity of COGA, IBF-Orne, IBF-OH, and PCL was determined with the Microtox Acute Toxicity Test System. The data from this study are used to assist in making environment and health-based decisions regarding the design and selection of formulas and materials for further development of new munition compounds.
