Abstract:
Cyberspace operations are essential to achieving objectives of our National Security Strategy. That is, without cyberspace operations, our nations security interests would never be met. For instance, the U.S. military employs cyberspace operations as a way in which to achieve homeland defense. The significance of understanding cyberspace operations, specifically, the capabilities and gaps throughout our services is essential to ensuring the stability and protection of our social, political and economic infrastructure. This paper seeks to understand the role and employment of the military reservist in cyberspace operations. Do reserve units provide the best opportunities for cyberspace professionals, by allowing reservists to practice their cyber skills in the civilian world Should the U.S. military add more reserve billets to U.S. Cyber Command USCYBERCOM over the next five years in order to increase our defensive and offensive capabilities so that we reduce our risk of penetration Through the analysis of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Leadership and Education, and Personnel conclusions and recommendations will be made.
