Abstract:

A Toxicology Assessment was prepared in support of a gasless delay fuze formulation that eliminates barium chromate, potassium perchlorate, and lead chromate from the mixture. The report addresses the human health and environmental effects of compounds of manganese, silicon, iron, tungsten, titanium, zirconium, tin, cobalt, boron, aluminum, antimony, strontium, molybdenum, as well as polytetrafluoroethylene while some of the compounds being considered are toxic via inhalation, the combustion products of the proposed fuze combination are not released to the atmosphere and therefore pose no inhalation threat and do not represent a human health or environmental hazard in this configuration.
