Corporate Author:

Report Date:
2017-09-01
Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to improve the baseline and longitudinal risk assessment of prostate cancer patients electing active surveillance AS as their management strategy. Our broad objective is two-fold 1 to improve the ability to select candidates who safely choose active surveillance as a prostate cancer management strategy and 2 to improve current monitoring for progression of prostate cancer. We subsequently aim to improve non-invasive means to monitor prostate cancer and improve the ability to decide when to intervene with therapeutic intent. Additionally we seek to reduce the number of biopsies, in turn reducing the morbidity of the AS strategy.
